Second is “I Just Want To Make Love”, a Foghat cover. This also translates well live as they performed this and the next cut live a few weeks ago when I caught the guys in Arizona. First, the production sounds great, as does the band – this is very Hollywood Vampires quality. The album opens up with “Rock And Roll Outlaw” originally performed by Rose Tattoo. But, the remaining Guns have continued shooting away and I think a few of these shots hit the target nicely. Guns to look for a “better gig” and now finds himself with Nikki from Motley Crue in Brides Of Destruction. The bottom line is this is a band that should not be ignored. Guns is a band that is as raw as Guns N’Roses and as pop metal as Poison yet never seemed to enjoy the depth of success those two bands enjoyed. Phil Lewis' voice is in great shape and adjusts to all the appropriate performing styles. Guns' familiar sound almost transform them in genuine creations. Each song's atmosphere is preserved but a touch of sleaze and L.A. Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Southern Rock, Glam Rock and Punk hymns are interpretated as their roots and performed with respect and consciousness. Guns intended to present songs that have branded particular genres, the influences and the features of which form L.A. Guns' songs, both from their previous album, Waking The Dead, which were recorded live in 2003. They couldn't avoid some expansion to the late 60s and the early 80s, so they also put Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man and Hanoi Rocks's Until I Get You. Guns added some of their favorites, Queen's Tie Your Mother Down, Foghat's I Just Want To Make Love, Aerosmith's Nobody's Fault, Led Zeppelin's Custard Pie, David Bowie's Moonage Daydream and, as a tribute to the original Punk, Iggy Pop and The Stooges' Search And Destroy. So, Phil suggested Rose Tattoo's Rock And Roll Outlaw, Saxon's Wheels Of Steele and Angel City's Marseilles.
